Coney Island of Maine Walking Tour

Specialty Tour for Organized Groups of Twelve or More People by Reservation only.

(This is not a regularly scheduled tour. It must be scheduled at least 2 weeks prior to requested date.)

Between 1880 and 1920 Peaks Island was one of the most popular and well-known summer resorts in the United States. So popular that it rivaled New York’s Coney Island, albeit on a smaller scale.

This tour takes visitors back in time as they stroll through the “downfront” area of the island with a knowledgeable guide who describes the many hotels, theatres and amusements enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of summertime revelers.

The best time to enjoy this tour is spring and fall before and after the large crowds of summer visitors arrive.  This tour lasts approximately 2 hours and does require walking up a slight incline from the wharf.  A leisurely way to explore interesting old cottages and remaining entertainment facilities.
